Welcome to the website of The Penngrove Proud.
It is a work in progress. We are a community
magazine for and about Penngrove, our culture, our business and our
community. We hope you enjoy it!
The Proud salutes our history, where we’ve been and where we’re
going, including articles on the early days of the town, the people
that helped to make it to grow; historic and interesting buildings and
homes; and the cultural evolution that has made Penngrove such a
special place to live, work and raise families.
“Sips, Savors and Sounds” is a round-up of eating, drinking and
listening, with news updates from our local array of cafes, restaurants, bars and taverns, from local music and art shows to the
latest new items on the menu.
In the “Ask your Neighbor” column, we look to you for any questions,
inquiries, gripes and opinions you may have about local community
issues – from safety to privacy, traffic to trash, or anything else
that you might want to discuss about the quality of life in our town.
The Proud will also announce and cover local Penngrove hometown
happenings, including social, cultural and business events of interest,
from our Penngrove Panthers and other Penngrove Elementary school news
to local yoga classes, how-to workshops, childcare and the like, in the
“Inside Penngrove” column. If you have an event, class, or something of
community interest you would like to have listed, just give us a call
or send an email.
“In Their Own Words” is a very special regular column in which
Penngrove’s most senior and longtime residents and business owners will
share their first-person memories of Penngrove’s rich and fascinating
past and, in so doing, building an oral history archive of the town,
with recollections and insights into the founding families and where
they are now, creating an important resource for students and local
historians as well as an invaluable legacy for all of Penngrove’s
future citizens.
Our beautifully designed, easy to read (magazine) is anchored by a full
color double page center-fold Illustrated map of Penngrove merchants –
detailing individually, street by street, all of our local businesses
and points of interest, and how to reach them.
This is your community magazine, something I hope you can feel a part of, with which you are proud to be associated, and which comes to represent both the voice and the heart of our very special little town. I want to include your voice and hear what you have to say.
